I also had a chance to go to church with Jake and Lindsay. After the early service at Buckhead they volunteer in the nursery. Here they're waiting in the three-year-old playroom for parents going to the later service to drop off their children.

"It's the busiest hour in the week," they told me - which is saying a lot. Jake audits information systems for corporations all around the country; Lindsay is a Registered Nurse at a clinic for children with digestive disorders.

We were in Scituate in June for Sarah's high school graduation. Here's the cake at the party Liz gave afterward.

The graduate cuts the cake. Did Lindsay's example, I wonder, help inspire Sarah to choose nursing as a career?

As the bridesmaids came down the aisle, I waited for the stately strains of Wagner's "Here comes the bride", or some other familiar wedding march. The little flower girl came next, and then... as Lindsay and Jake began their walk to the altar, the soloist launched into the words of Frances Havergal's beautiful hymn,

Take my life and let it be, Consecrated Lord, to thee...

I'd never witnessed marriage vows open with this commitment, first of all, to God. Take my moments and my days, the hymn continues, Let them flow in ceaseless praise. Launching their life together this way, I thought, Lindsay and Jake will never lack for praises to sing!
